On a weekend away without the kids Dave and Sue could be young and free again. They could be David and Susan, fresh love gambolling in the countryside retreat. Remember those days?
The evening meal on the Friday night was a champagne special dancing the night away, not exactly clubbing but the room was lively. A hearty breakfast set them up for a day where they could just please themselves,
On Sunday evening Dave and Sue were completely refreshed and ready to face the children who were eager to tell what a wonderful time they’d had at home without them.

What a lovely writing. I could actually picture that nice countryside retreat. I just hope the house is still intact or standing on their return. 😉 The kids sound too eager about their wonderful time, home alone!

Thank you Frenchie . I enjoyed the moment when the twist popped into my head.

I just hope they didn't have the kind of fun I had whenever my parents went on a trip!

A super drabble, Brian! Beautifully captured. Those away-from-the-kids occasions were few. I recall one such occasion when we came back from a couple of days away to find that our house had been the scene of quite a drama involving a fire engine and a small boy who had twirled the cartwheel affixed to our outside wall and somehow caught the skin on his hand in the mechanism. Meanwhile, our three youngsters were indoors oblivious to all the excitement outside!
