In 1943 the government declared that the residents of Tyneham should abandon their homes as the nearby military training grounds were being used for testing new and powerful armaments for the intended invasion of France and their lives would be in danger. The 225 were assured that it would be a temporary measure.
They left for the nearby town under protest. A note left on the church door read: “Please treat the church and homes with care as we shall return one day.”
The villagers never returned and Tyneham is only accessible when the range is open to the public.

I’ve been there. Rather spooky!

It sounds like it would be spooky.
These drabbles are very interesting, Brian. Keep 'em coming!

Neville, check out Sarah Oakes' recent drabbles when you can. I think hers are getting lost amid my Jake drabbles and I wouldn't want her to feel slighted and leave.

Thanks Christopher, I’m checking them out and commenting as I find them. They do sneak in between Jake’s shenanigans as you suggest. Sarah seems to be quite active, drabblewise, which is a great thing right now!

Indeed!
