Tilly had never liked dogs, especially the jumpy, licking ones seeking attention. She’d curl and cringe at the thought of the feel of fur and would turn her back on them, always afraid.
When she met her neighbour on her walk, Bill had his bundle of joy in tow. As they stood talking Amber had sat at Tilly’s feet gazing with soft watery brown eyes seemingly part of the conversation. It seemed so natural.
The next time they met, Tilly walked along holding the lead wondering whether to phone the RSPCA dog fostering service. She had been rescued...by a cockapoo.
