The leather jacket addresses the old man’s vanity.

He had one when he was in his prime. It allowed him to strut without strutting. It made his manly features more manly.

Middle age spread shattered the image and the jacket. Debaunched beer stains consigned it to the scrap heap.

Looking for a replacement proved to be difficult. It had to be a tan one. One with no collar. A blouson. A smart jacket, not a biker’s coat.

Come the big 80 birthday the request was made. Blouson bought. He stepped out but the strut had gone. Replaced by a stoop.

Love it Brian! The stoop doesn’t matter, the jacket itself says strut! About eighteen months ago, I bought what I imagine must be a very similar brown leather jacket. I’d never had a leather jacket, but hell, I’d always fancied it would make me look cool. It has certainly made me feel warm though! Wear it with pride!
