Surprise!

I was waiting…he had to have a surprise for me soon. I could not think about today and all of the things I had to do because I knew to expect up ahead and to be ready. The sunrise halted in the sky and I knew it was another day. Where was the surprise? “Tomorrow will be important”, I told myself. One minute late, two minutes late…he did not come. “This detracts from a big surprise,” I said aloud. Small hopes curled inside my stomach and died. Happiness could not be here; I needed the adventure of the big moment.
