Rain on Willy

Today it rains. Yesterday was blazing heat and blinding sun. But, today it rains. William carries his milk crate to the corner of the intersection and sits. He pulls the garbage bag from his pocket and holds it over his head. The rain bounces off the plastic and falls in rivulets around him. The Old Beater rolls down the window and hands William a dollar. The BMW ignores him and drives past. The Corvette speeds past him and splashes water up from a puddle. The Jalopy beckons him, and hands him a water and a granola bar. Today it rains.
