Crying Into A Mirror #3

by

The face in the mirror startled Julie. Just fleetingly. Just for the tiny fraction of time it took her to realise that it wasn’t really her mother’s face gazing back at her - it was her own.
She was used to it, though: now she was in her fifties it was quite logical that she looked increasingly like she remembered her mother looking. Still, just fleetingly, just for that tiny fraction of time, she admitted to herself it made her feel secure and immensely happy to be able to see Mum once again. If only briefly. If only all too briefly.

I’ve always ben fascinated with mirrors (not narcissistically I stress) and mirror images.... and twins and mirror-image twins and they have cropped up in quite a number of my stories.

My fascination with mirrors is how if you have a bunch of them facing each other and you stand there the image just keeps repeating over and over. It's like a portal into a multiverse of alternate timelines.

Hey, there's an idea for a drabble right there!

(This is really great, btw, Drew.)
