Only the best will do
Waiting wineglasses glitter, liquid golden complement to fish courses.
Beneath starburst chandeliers red wine exudes near regal purple bonhomie
to complement the meats.
Succulent juices insinuate. For grace,
that fine tradition, all eyes will briefly close.

Only the best will do
though the worst is a reach too far.
In chilly one bulb kitchens
A child’s cracked glass on the plastic tablecloth,
yesterday’s Mail
pinched from the library
fills the gap in the window frame and stops the backdoor rattling in the wind.
Grace is silent here as the eyes of the wealthy
look away.

Written after reading that for the first time in history Unicef will feed hungry children in the UK.
Whatever people's political persuasion, it must now be acknowledged that this is not just down to this current government alone but to successive Conservative government failings over the last decade.
Rant over - sorry to get political folks. :/

Blimey! Said from the heart. Politics isn’t my thing because I think that whatever their persuasion they're all a bunch of self-seeking shysters.

Yes, I do tend to rant sometimes lol. I agree with you, though I'd say "most" rather than all. Or maybe they start off with good intentions but "power corrupts" and all that. I still maintain that the last decade has seen the most inept governments in terms of ministerial skill ever.
