Life was hell when I was a kid. At home, discipline was everyfin'. You don’ learn nuffin wi’out discipline, Ma’n Pa’d say. If’n I gave a look outa place, Ma would mix me. A word outa place and Pa’d cream me good ‘n proper.
I remember I was like ten years old an’ mah sister saw me dealing on the corner. Told Pa she did, an’ when I got home Ma'n Pa both creamed me. My Pa yelled “Trade cake wouldya?” and he baked me good, threatened to ice me, even.
Yeh, life was hell, growin’ up in the gateau.

    Reminded me of Elvis...

"On a cold and gray Chicago morn
& another little baby child is born
    In the Gateau."

Hahahahaha! You had me going all the way to the final word. Bravo Drew! I was loving all the wonderful contractions, like Ma’n Pa’d and the boom... the final word broke me up. Marvellous!

Oh Shit! Right up until the last word. Phenomenal. Absolutely loved it. I'd better shut up now or I'll be waxing lyrical about this non stop. Well done!

    Thank you all :)
I didn't know Penderyn did a Bourbon, Jeff, guess I'll have to check that out (in the interests of quality control, of course).
Christopher, that's one of my favourite Elvis songs - and it's the one that introduced me to the gospel songs he did (up until that point I'd dismissed him as a cheesy rock'n'roller. I was too young and/or dumb to appreciate his impact on music then, I think).
Neville and Shaun, thanks, glad I had you going there :)
