Incident At Wainscotting Manor #61
“I am consequently ruling myself out.
“Now: Gibberish.
“You had ample opportunity, having an ahem! very friendly relationship with Lady Wainscotting plus access to her bedroom at any time, even after her demise.”
Gibberish blushed, and stole a glance at Lord Grope.
“But I regard Mr Gibberish as a member of that happy breed who are content in their place. They live to serve, and have neither the wit, intelligence nor desire to better themselves, least of all by theft. I consider Mr Gibberish innocent and consequently rule him out.”
“Thank you,” said Gibberish, his beetroot face glowing. “I think.”
