Outside on the lawn leaves spun in an eddy. But it wasn’t the wind that moved them.
Above, the air flickered as if a sudden heat had caused one tiny area to shimmer.
Suddenly a translucent, spherical craft slowly formed in mid air then descended silently onto the grass.
Equally silently, translucent shapes formed beside it. Tall, humanoid but faceless and menacing. In silence they hovered, stared silently in at the window, looked at each other, shrugged, then left.
Sadly, Grimper saw none of it as all that happened nine thousand miles away and has nothing to do with Wainscotting.
