Early one morning, out of nowhere I had an attack of The Panics. Well, not out of nowhere. The previous afternoon I’d been called before The Dean: “Your work’s fine. But missing lectures? Missing coursework? Continue like that you will be expelled!” he’d promised. For the second time in eight months.
I couldn’t get expelled. Couldn't disappoint my parents.
I leapt out of bed.
Dressed. Silently.
“Tell me?” she asked.
I couldn’t.
I cope with stuff alone.
Seasons yelled, eyes blazing: “Hide yourself! Clam up with other people! But DON’T YOU DARE DO THAT WITH ME!!”
Then, quietly:
“Tell me.”
