The weekly mail rattled through Challicott usually late on Thursday afternoons - it was an obvious first target. They chose their positions carefully: a narrow stretch of road bordered by rock on one side and trees on another to provide a secure place to lie in wait and await the sound of galloping horses.
The coach was barely late, the robbery could not have gone smoother, and although pistols had been drawn there was no need for a single shot to be fired.
They moved further afield for their second and third holdups, both successful. So far nothing had gone wrong.

I wonder if the phrase "Stand and deliver!" ever made an appearance.
