Hannah #2

by

How she
let her book fall into the Severn, watched it float then
finally sink.
In her head, she wrote that book.
She hadn't.
Not yet.
"This is your life," she gurgles, shivering, her skin paling with water, her sodden sentences torn from her throat, the swirling current ripping away her words.
"This was..." she splutters.
Suddenly the cold stone of the bridge parapet tickles her palm.
"I'd stood there ages," she reminds herself, "no wonder I was freezing."
And a dog almost peed against her leg and then looked up at her so apologetically that it made her laugh.

Hannah is fascinating. Kind of spooky, disturbing fascinating. I want to read more of her. The dog also made me laugh. Gosh, she must have stood there for ages indeed.

Haha I'm not sure where that dog came from, but in my head he's a black labrador. How's that for a bit of pointless information? ;)
