"She saw me at the last, you know. Turned as I leapt, poor stricken foal with eyes bulging with fear. Her legs tried to carry her away, but they buckled under my weight like I was Kashmir. My claws were the rock that stunned her, my bite was the rifle butt that hammered her skull.
A predator's kill is almost always quick.
But I had such little experience! Kashmir would have told me to make sure, sever her artery, let it drain cold. But... he'd gone."
She looked hesitantly around the room as if suddenly aware she was not alone.

Dark stuff here Drew. I feel I want to sever Lucy’s arteries too! I’ve really gone off Lucys now! There’s a Lucy in my latest university class, so I’ll have to try very hard not to pick on her to answer tricky questions. Fortunately her surname’s not McGinley.

If her boyfriend/partner/husband's name is Joshua I'd be very careful. Otherwise, she's lovely (all Lucy's are lovely, beautiful and caring, in my (flawed) opinion, which is why I chose the name to start with. Shame the story changed her. (Nothing to do with me, guv'nor!)

I have to admit to being a bit confused right now (it may be intentional on your part!) as to whom she’s speaking to right now. Are we ‘back then’ or right now i.e. in the room with Joshua, kids et al? Maybe I should wait to find out!🤔

She's... back in the room ;)
I'll have to give it a few days then re-read it, make sure that's clear. But thanks for pointing it out, I like all feedback like that :)
