The Apartment #40

by

Ryland expected... different.
He expected gravity, solemnity, someone exuding power and control. Because if you couldn't wield power in this world, what chance have you in the next?
But the man sitting in Ryland's apartment - Harry Danes, Psychic Cleanser - was, well, different.
Short, almost bald, overweight and red-cheeked, he dabbed at the sweat on his neck with a white handkerchief and chuckled self-consciously.
This rosy-cheeked joviality seemed to Ryland to be out of place with the seriousness of the situation.
"I rushed," Danes giggled, "I detest being late," he explained. "Much like the spirits I deal with."

Wonderful. Torn between wanting to comment individually on each drabble and racing on to read the next. Reading on won as you can see but I'm really loving the intermissions X

Thanks Lisa, as always I'm loving your support and comments.
I'm not sure if the intermissions work exactly as I want them to, but I felt I needed something to break up the bouncing around (if you see what I mean) and also wanted something to run parallel, to mirror and distort what's happening, and also to direct my thoughts - as I'm trying to make what occurs after an intermission have some (if faint) link with it.
Too much information there son, getting too deep, shut up Drew :)

I love it when people explain their processes and motivations about their writings.

And Danes seems to me like a bit of a shyster. Sort of like Bill Murray's sham psychic research in the first Ghostbusters movie. Who knows? Maybe he'll turn out to be the genuine article.

    Great job, Drew. As always.
