"I'll return tomorrow," my landlord said. "Enjoy your new home."
Yes, I believe I will. It's warm, cosy. Everything I need.
I relaxed, feet up, enjoying food, tv, and a drink.

The kids next door burst into life. At first, hearing kids playing was nice. But soon it became irritating, the yelling, the fighting, the hammering of feet on stairs.
The gunshots frightened me, though. The echoing bangs, followed by ominous silence.

Complaining confused my landlord.
"That apartment's empty," he told me. "No one's lived there since - "
I stopped him.
He didn't have to tell me what had happened

Ooh! Nice Halloween drabble. Another great one, Drew. That's why you're top dog around these parts!

Haha thank you all. I don't think I'm top dog though, Christopher, there are a lot of great writers and great ideas on here and I'm just glad to maybe be in the same range as them :)

A delightful ghost story Drew, but so sad too. The loss of children's lives is heartbreaking.

Thank you all. And Neville, "fecundity" is now going to be my word of the week :)
