Caroline remembered her wedding day. She and her father at the church door, preparing to go in.
It may have been chance she glanced in that direction. Twenty yards away, the old, crippled lady, a defeated face - bruised cheeks, bloodied mouth - staring directly at her. Shaking her head.
The urgent warning on her bullied face was unambiguous.
A chill ran through her. Something resonated inside.
Purposefully she turned and strode away from the Church.

Now, with a smile composed of relief and the knowledge she’d made the correct decision, Caroline purposefully strode away from the Church for the second time.
