There’s a head in the fireplace. I don’t know who’s head, it’s back is to me, but it’s definitely a head. And a stump; of vertebrae I suppose. And there, slowly unfolding beneath the shredded neck, spindly, unwinding legs. They are pale, thin, with thicker joints. They remind me of arthritic fingers. But they’re not fingers. Fingers don’t have black, fleshy claws on their extremities.

The head wobbles as the legs extend and find their feet . As they find purchase on the ground, the head rises a little. Slowly, it turns around.

If it winks at me, I’m off.

Wow, the thing about this is- it's creepy and very, horribly descriptive! Awesome (even if it did put me off my biscuits)

I think I would be gone, even if it didn't wink! Very creepy.

One of the best horror drabbles posted here for some time. As Jim said, the description of the head is utterly ghastly! This certain induced a shiver or two!
