The postman woke me. There's an envelope over there.
I can't move so I can't get it. It's the cold, see. When you're old it gets into you, the pain makes it impossible to move.
I've sat in this chair three days I think. Maybe I sleep sometimes. People pass the window, shadows: or I may have dreamed them.
It could be from my Sarah, my letter.
I tried so very hard to get up, but I can't abide the pain see. I cried, and I think I slept then. I'm so very cold, it hurts worse than the loneliness.

    Superb writing and quite frightening, the thought of being so old and so alone with only constant pain and distant memories for company.
