“I need your advice, Jenny,” Carrie said. “It’s our anniversary. I need to buy Tony something.”
Tony had already asked: “You’ve superb taste, Jenny, what should I buy for Carrie?”
They’d been together years, that pair, and always asked her for advice: a compliment that increasingly sounded like laziness.
Jenny remembered all the presents Melanie had given her. Always elegant. Such stunning, fabulous gifts that Jenny hadn’t known what to buy her in return.
But that was long ago.
If only she’d had someone to give her advice back then. Really, she’d meant to buy Melanie something. Really meant to.
