The room was enveloped in darkness as he tried to focus on his breathing; no longer convinced that it's all a dream.
He saw her!
She stood perfectly still, her pale, waxy skin reflecting the bluish light of the moon, watching him with an expression of longing, bordering on mania.
From the corner of his eye, her still form seemed to wait for something, but what?
For hours he kept his silent, heart-pounding vigil; all the while, she stood and stared.
Exhaustion overcame him, and at last, he fell asleep despite her unwelcomed presence.
That's when she finally moved.
