What is it that lives in 'The Vault'?
[A nightvision camera is turned on]
"Is it on? Okay."
[The camera pans to face a safe-like door]
"This door was behind a false wall in my basement; I've managed to unlock it. I wanted to record the opening for posterity."
[He reaches and opens the door slowly, revealing a vault-like room]
[The camera pans left, and two reflective eyes appear]
[A guttural growl is heard as the eyes grow monstrous]
"What the-?!"
[An inhuman howl is heard, and the camera is knocked to the ground]
[The narrator screams as the camera is smashed and shuts down]

I was just trying to picture the scene. The setting for your story reminded me a little of Lovecraft's, "Pickman's Model".
