The summer sun has descended beyond the horizon; night embraces the land.
As the people drift off to sleep, the denizens of shadow escape the bonds of light that had imprisoned them.
Claw-like hands move from house to house, seeking sustenance to see them through their daily banishment.
A window, left open to allow the light breeze to cool the room, beckons; grunts and growls of anticipation emanate from needle-toothed maws.
Inside, an infant coos in her sleep as several small, pale forms slither through the opening.
Their opaque, white eyes glisten greedily as they slake their hunger.

ha ha, that is why I never sleep with my windows opened. They all complain in my family but the windows stay shut. Even in super hot summertime LOL - Good one.

Hmm... tonight I might just close my window, not that I'm scared or anything.
