A Close Encounter

The landing had been flawless; the alien planet could be surveyed for colonization.
I made my way through terrain that was similar in make-up to that of my home planet, with only the slightest differences.
After walking through some flora, I saw the alien male; he looked remarkably like those of my race.
He noticed me before I could find cover.
"Hey, there! Nice space suit!"
"I come in peace, alien. What is this planet called?"
"Oh, wow! You're trippin'!"
I didn't understand this expression.
"Earth to space cadet. Come in, space cadet!" he waved his hands and laughed.
