Darkness envelopes me; it shields me from discovery.
As you make your way down the lonely, lamp-lit street, I skulk at a safe distance, plotting.
I freeze as my foot inadvertently kicks an empty can, causing you to turn in slight alarm.
My heart pounds as you peer in my direction; you don't seem to notice me.
As you resume your way to the deserted parking lot, the adrenaline begins to build within me.
Closing in, I notice you've dropped your keys; this is my chance.
With dizzying swiftness, you turn, pistol in hand.
A new darkness envelopes me.
