At first, I liked the new neighbors; a friendly elderly couple who'd apparently been married a long time.
When they bickered, I found it difficult to hide my amusement at their mutual chiding.
But I couldn't abide the noise they made nightly! You'd expect octogenarians to be soundly asleep at midnight, not stomping and rearranging furniture continuously.
Finally, I had to complain to the landlord.
He looked at me queerly as I enumerated my issues.
"No one's lived in there since the place burned in a fire ten years ago," he replied doubtfully.
I used to like the new neighbors.
