“Deal with it,” the king said.
The queen glared at him across the table. She hated the way he continually flaunted his higher rank.
Her anger turned to joy, however, when three royals unexpectedly turned up. Surely the four of them together could defeat the king.
The queen announced their number, quietly confident. The king laughed and assured her that he still had the winning hand.
The queen, along with her fellow royals and other lesser ranks, conceded defeat.
She had never stood a chance anyway. Her handler was an honest man, whereas the king’s was a professional card sharp.
