The Team

My basketball team sits and waits inside the "side room" of our school waiting for the bus and the coach. I lean against the fence on the far side of the room that blocks off the way to the gym equipment that needs to be a little more protected from stealing hands and greedy eyes. The coach comes in to talk and I sit and listen to the din of weights being dropped on the floor as the anticipation of being sure of playing in a game for once instead of being a bench warmer. The anticipation builds higher still.
