A local news item from 1956 reads:
'An unknown Santa Claus is bringing Christmas joy to many poor families in Wombwell, South Yorkshire.
He walks into a Grocer's shop in full regalia, complete with beard and boots, hands over a list of names with full addresses of twenty- one poor and needy families.
He tells the Manageress to send out twenty-one food parcels containing Christmas Fayre to the homes on the list.
He has done this five times now and on each occasion has handed over twenty-one pounds in new one pound notes to pay for the parcels.

Thank you Drew. Not my work though.
My husband, with two others, produced a Forces newspaper in Port Said during the Suez crisis. Along with political reports, conflict news, sports reports and a Padre's letter, there was often light hearted snippets from home.
I lifted these almost word for word from some of what maybe the only copies of those newspapers which were produced daily on foolscap paper, typed and duplicated on an ancient Gestetner duplicator.
