Eyam#2 The first social distances

Emmett and Rowland were overjoyed when they became engaged. For some time they had enjoyed 'walking out' between their two villages.
Then tragedy struck as an epidemic prevailed in the village and Emmett's sister and many others died.
Our Vicar appealed to everyone to isolate and contain the disease from spreading outside the village boundary.
The lovers met at Cucklet Delph and called words of love to each other across the rushing river.
Last night I had to go to the Delph to tell Rowland that Emmett wouldn't be coming.
She had collapsed and died of the plague that day
