A First Jump

Somewhere among the huge bags, three of us were in the back of a van zig- zagging nine miles up a mountain. Once there the bags were spread on the ground and lines straightened.
Now we were ready!
Harnessed to a canvas seat in tandem with an experienced paraglider we began our run downhill - then a jolt - legs flailing wildly in the air.
Exhilaration kicked in as we floated silently over glistening snow pockets on the northern slopes, over the tops of trees far below.
Ecstasy and excitement over all too soon as we were brought down to earth.
