Calling this place a dive is probably giving it too much credit for class; but drinks are cheap and the darkness conducive to drowning sorrows. At the end of the bar sat a skinny yet not unattractive woman. "Can I buy you a drink" I asked? "It's your money", she replied, and I ordered us a round.
She asked, "Why are you here"?
"My girlfriend of two years has been cheating on me. She left me last night", I answered. "How about you"?
"I have cancer and I'm dying", she replied.
Suddenly I knew, I had no reason to drink...

It's all about perspective, isn't it? When I come home after an irritating day and I'm all puffed up and pissed off I see a St. Jude's Children's Hospital commercial and suddenly my problems seem very petty. Great and thought-provoking, Bob.
