When I was a young kid, I asked my mom if I could smoke a cigarette.
She gave me hers and told me to inhale. I did and she gave me that look.
“This time put it in your mouth, then inhale.”
I did and began coughing.
She said, “That’s better, but next time inhale through your mouth, not your nose.”
After a few more attempts I actually inhaled the smoke into my lungs.
Today, 50 plus years later, I can still feel the burning heat inside my lungs. That was the first and last time I had ever smoked.
