'Because the moment he saw your pic, he wouldn't let go until I promised to fix a date with you.'
-'I'm sorry. If you fancied him, you could have said I'm a lesbian or something like that. I don't really care.'
She opened the door.
-'Be safe,' I called after her, relieved. Petty woman rivalry is not my cup of tea.
Just a few minutes after she left, the landline rang. I let it go to voicemail.
The voice was robotic but clear.
-'If you want to save Tony's life, you'll answer the phone.''
Rolling eyes to ceiling once more.

I’d love to say don’t answer it then, but then where would the story go? So, with a certain reluctance, I guess you’ll have to answer it. But maybe answer in French to fool them...

Nope, she did not answer the phone. To play right in that little prat's hands? (I mean Tony), no way. She is way too smart. 🤣 even if I say so myself.

Exciting then! Brava!, way too smart lady! Interested in seeing how this develops. After all, I’ve got 25p resting on it! Mostly, I want to see that Tony get his comeuppance, without any double-entendre intended!
