Nusery Rhymes Revisited #1

by

Long after his great fall, Humpty Dumpty finally plucked the courage to file a ''No win, No fee'' claim against the King's men.

The King's Counsel was very eloquent in his address:

- Your Honour, Mr Dumpty's blatant disregard of Health & Safety caused his fall.

But Humpty had a young, shrewd advocate:

- I object, your Honour. The King's horses are at fault if he is still in pain today. They weren't qualified to administer First Aid to an egg.

Thus, Humpty Dumpty was awarded a fabulous Fabergé egg from the King's collection, allowing him to sit safely on a wall.

I did research the little fella's biography and I found a lot of mystery surrounding Humpty Dumpty's origins. No one mentioned alien, yet... I think.👽

Hehe, love it iFrenchie! I did a bit of research too and it seems like Humpty Dumpty might have been a large gun (probably at about the time we were having a bit of bother with a certain Napoleon). Love the No Win, No Fee concept. With inept horses and men like that, unable to put a poor ovoid back in shape, it’s a wonder that old Nappy didn’t overrun us!

Thank you for making me laugh aloud this morning. A good therapy!
You know, I have been thinking, is Mrs H. French? Her name is very, very French or at least, from a French speaking country. (sorry, me being nosey....😂)

Frenchie, I guess that as written, Mrs H’s name might seem French, but she is not (although she has been having French lessons for some years! You should hear her French accent... very middle class Home Counties!). It’s a family name, pronounced Kò-rìn, like Emma Corrin (recently of The Crown fame... and who is her second cousin). It was her father’s fault because he spelt the name wrong when he registered her birth!... he added an ‘e’. Until the day she died, his mother insisted in calling her Coreen which always irritated the family!

Ah! one mystery explained. Well, with her name and French accent, your lady could well pass for a very Parisian chic bourgeoise :-)

With her version of a French accent, I’m afraid she could only be an Englishwoman (a very lovely one though) although both of us love France and the French. Our last holiday on the Étaing de Thau was a delight. She can usually understand French, but prefers not to speak it. She lets me gabble on and probably make a language idiot of myself! Mais ça ne fait rien!🥴
