Mary didn't have a little lamb; she had five selfish grown up children. She seldom saw them, they ate her food, left their laundry all over, never contributing to anything. Not even tonight, her birthday.
At midnight, she picked up her suitcases. No need for goodbyes, they wouldn't care anyway. Fingers crossed, all should go well.
The lights went off as she closed the door.
Then she heard it. An anguished wailing from inside the house..
''Muuuuuuuum, the internet stopped working!''
But Mary was already gone, a one-way ticket to Acapulco in her pocket, a grin on her face.

Belated Happy New Year, Frenchie. A really nice drabble. I think her family was about to learn the meaning of the old saying "You don't know what you've got until it's gone."
