Hiding my sorrow, I look at her. For the last year, I've felt every acute pain of that cursed disease ravaging her body. I'm ashamed to be whole.
I follow her gaze, past the hospital window, past the garden and the street beyond. The sun is shining, mocking her sufferings.
With an ultimate effort, she turns back to me. I know what she isn't saying.
She's letting go. Her eyes tell me she's sorry, for the first time since we are married, she'll be travelling without me.
Her hand goes limp in mine. She's gone and my world goes black.

Sad and hard-hitting...

Very strong language used to convey the emotions perfectly. The sadness in the drabble is immense and powerful. Very good job!
