She heard the synthetic voice announce, “FRONT DOOR,” and bolted out of the chair where she had dozed off. The clock on the wall chimed 2:00 AM and she finally noticed the open door. She charged down the long walkway into the quiet road and spotted his limping figure disappearing down the hill.
Running back to get the SUV, she drove slowly and approached the stop sign where he stood confused. “Are you ready to come home?” she called out. He turned with a hint of recognition and nodded yes, as the clouds parted to reveal the full moon above.
