It’s black outside the spaceship, just the winking of stars.
The ship’s on a gravity assisted journey, heading for Mars.
It’s nearly six months now, out from Earth’s friendly embrace.
For all the ship's astronaut’s, it’s a very lonely place.
Now the ship arrives at Mars, the surface looks brown.
Even in Mars' atmosphere, parachutes start to slow the ship down.
Just meters to go the landing legs open by commands.
The retro rockets fires a burst then the ship gently lands.
The spaceship finishes computer programs, to help it arrive.
The air was lost inside.
There’s no-one alive.

Now, this is exactly why you would never get me into a spacecraft!

Amen, Jamie! Nor a frickin' transporter like on Star Trek! They did too many episodes where things went wrong with that thing.
Loved the drabble, Peter.
