When he called and told me he was George's son, I almost collapsed.
The thought of meeting him terrified me.
But then I thought of George's supposed victims, especially Elizabeth, the "Black Dahlia" and began to feel guilty.
When I arrived at the restaurant, I spotted him instantly: tall and gaunt, with wheat blond hair-just like his father.
"You two were engaged. I am curious why you didn't marry him?"
"Why do you want to know?"
"I am writing a book, proving he was a serial killer; you should have been one of his victims."
"I wish I were."

Great first line. And a powerful ending line, as well. This could be the first in a long series!
