He stood and looked again. There was no doubt, this was Griddle’s hole.
He looked into the blackness and tried to see something, anything, but it was total blackness.
This was where it had happened, where the hole’s reputation had been earned. Not a place to be on your own, but there on his own, he was.
And it was starting to get dark … although perhaps the darkness was a reflection of the unpleasantness.
He turned to leave and felt that urge to stay that so many had felt before him.
Almost irresistible. After all it was Griddle’s hole.

It started out as Gridles hole but the spelling insistor in this programme added a D. Try Peter Wimsey … a similar hole is in there. That’s where the idea came from.
