We were going on Pilgrimage to Turkey, so I decided to learn Turkish.
I bought a language course and learnt Turkish during my weekly drives to Paris - four hours each way.
Turkish Airlines to Istanbul. The air hostesses amazed that I spoke Turkish. Drinks came round.
We approached Istanbul, they came to me ‘we have alcohol left over. Would you like more?’
Half a pint of Tia Maria in a plastic cup. I was sozzled.
Descending unsteadily from the plane, the Bishop spoke to me, ‘Richard, since you speak Turkish, would you please help us all through Passport and Customs?’

Sounds like a fun flight but maybe a painful pilgrimage peppered with paracetamol!
