“How many?”
“Ten to the ten quadrillion.”
“Universes.”
“Yep.”
“So, logically, there are going to be some where our doubles exist, but they’re not a couple.”
“Babe, there ain’t no universe where we’re not together. I’m tellin’ ya.”
She laughed, kissed him goodnight, and turned to stare into the darkness. How different would my doubles be? she wondered. Is there a place where I - a me - could love him more? Not love him at all?
“You asleep, babe?” His hand traced warm, gentle curves down her back.
She turned back into his embrace and whispered, “Somewhere maybe, but not here.”
