Passing the new helpful seeming house guests' room, going out to the high balcony, Jed began his speech to the courtyard statues. If there was silent booing he would amend it. Silent cheering would send him (After a spot of breakfast) straight to Hyde Park Corner to deliver his wisdom.
No response at all.
He read again, and without knowing why included Ms' forbidden to utter green inked notes between the lines. This time he imagined the crowd stirring. There was cheering, jeering, indifference and something else.
The following morning it was discovered the statues were missing. So was Jed.
