Percy glanced between Charles and Grace for a few moments before stepping forward to greet the newcomers. “Good day, Mrs. Elliot, Miss Elliot.”
“My lord, how lovely to see you. And you too, Mr. Lancaster. How is your family?”
Charles clasped the frilly pink bonnet to his chest and acknowledged her reply with a nod. He cleared his throat. “Very well, thank you.” He mentally patted himself on the back. Words spoken, and clearly.
“Say hello, Grace,” she whispered loudly.
“Hello,” she murmured while staring at the floor.
Charles grunted and turned away to pay for the hat.
