Damareth had been overcome, at last. After a long siege followed by a deadly battle, we have won. We do not take prisoners, however. They all must die for their insistent rebellion.

An old man was placed on the already bloodied block.

Chop!

I added another tally to the board while another removed the carcass and replaced it with another, crying, one.

Chop!

I added another tally. Somehow, despite the victory, I still feel empty. There has got to be more in life than this.

Chop!

Why do I feel so alone?

Chop!

Executioner can't be everything in life.

Love the feeling of the daily grind as an executioner. Reminded me of an officer worker than has to stamp papers all day.

Reminds me of an episode of the British TV show "Blackadder" where Queen Elizabeth I made him executioner for the week. He secretly executed them all on Monday so he could take the rest of the week off, then the Queen pardoned someone he'd already executed!

    Great work, Arthur.
