He had to concede that it wasn't as bad as he might have thought, had he ever thought he would wake up to find himself strapped to a bed.
The walls were just white enough to make him feel clean, the window bars recently painted, and there were dappled tree shadows that swayed in the sun with the breeze. The others were pleasant enough too: one had given him a piece of stale cheese, with a shrug of her shoulders and a slack-jawed grin.
The hospital was, on the whole, a better place to be - for now, at least.
